Sedation Dentistry

Sedation Dentistry is Our Specialty.

For over 46 years Berg Dental group has provided IV Sedation services to those in need. Did you know that one in seven people suffer from some form of dental anxiety? So, if you are one of those that suffer, know that you are not alone and we are here to serve you. Berg Dental Group can make your dental appointments fear free, relaxing and comfortable.

Nitrous Oxide

Nitrous Oxide, commonly known as laughing gas or nitrous, has significant medical uses especially in dentistry due to its anesthetic and analgesic affects. Its name “laughing gas” comes from its euphoric effects of inhaling it.

How we can help:

Because we understand that the dental chair isn’t always your favorite place to be, we offer complimentary nitrous oxide (laughing gas) along with BOSE noise cancelling headphones, warm blankets, massaging chairs, and a comfortable pillow.

Oral Sedation

When the nitrous just isn’t enough, many patients choose to use an oral sedative. We have several options for oral sedation, the most commonly used is a benzodiazepine due to its fast onset and short half life.

How we can help:

You will arrive an hour prior to your dental appointment and after answering some simple questions, you will be given an oral sedative. This helps with anxiety prior to your appointment and is an adjuvant to local anesthetic. Some of our patients report no memory of their dental appointment at all. You must have a responsible adult accompany you to your appointment and drive you home afterwards.

IV Sedation

IV is short for intravenous. Intravenous sedation is when a very small catheter is inserted into a vein and the sedation medication is delivered through that catheter. These medications are designed to relax you and make you completely comfortable. IV sedation also eliminates anxiety and discomfort which allows your doctor to perform high quality dentistry in a shorter period of time.

How we can help:

Dr. Brian Berg went above and beyond the schooling required to perform IV Sedation in his practice, he holds a Dentist General Anesthesia license rather than a Dentist Moderate Sedation license. What this means to you is that you are in the most capable hands to have your dental needs taken care of safely, quickly and performed with the utmost quality, while sedated.
